The Recording Academy
A complete redesign of GRAMMY Camp as a brand, that represents music education and attracts future students and donors.
Marshall Rake: creative director
GRAMMY Camp is the GRAMMY Museum’s principal music education program. This 5-day nonresidential Summer music industry program is designed for high school students interested in having a career in music, and has celebrated artists such as Maren Morris, Bebe Rexha, and more as alumni. Hosted at the USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles, students across the country apply for one of the eight offered career tracks, which include: audio engineering, electronic music production, songwriting, performance (vocal), music journalism, video production & motion graphics, music business, and performance (instrumental).
Because the Recording Academy is highly presitigious, I was told to try to keep the designs from looking too experimental. My goal for the rebranding was to make my designs look professional yet fun.
Though I do wish I could've had more creative freedom, I understand that part of being a designer is working with constraints at times. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a client as prestigious as the Recording Academy.
